Accomplishments Exercise Healthy Eating Reflection Thankful

I Am ‘That Girl’

This may seem like the most narcissistic post ever written, but it has to be said – for me, more than anyone else.
Earlier this week, I was talking to Amber about my cardio choices for that evening because I just did not feel like working out.
I asked her if she thought I should ride my recumbent bike, head to the gym in the cold to use the treadmill or try a new exercise video. I knew that all of these choices were good ones, but I also knew that the treadmill was the best for that evening. And while I knew I should go, I struggled to find the motivation.
Then Amber said, ‘I’d like to say the treadmill, but…’ And at that point, I knew I had to use the treadmill. I wanted to be that girl who would head to the gym – rain or shine – to get that extra workout in. So I grabbed my sneakers, filled my water bottle and put my coat on. And that night, I became the girl I wanted to be…
I am the girl who…
  • is conscious of everything she eats…
  • goes to the gym even even if it’s cold and rainy outside…
  • wakes up early, realizes it’s not raining yet and goes out for a bike ride until it starts pouring…
  • dances at parties instead of sitting on the sidelines…
  • no longer eats carrot cake for dessert (even though it would be okay in moderation) because it’s just not worth the fat and calories…
  • doesn’t make excuses about why she ‘can’t do it’ or ‘why it’s too hard…’
  • has big, curious eyes — and can even see them now because her face is getting skinnier. 😉
  • walks faster…
  • decides she wants to do something then starts making it happen…
  • likes to explore places she’s never been and to rediscover places she has been before…
  • doesn’t eat everything on her plate just because it’s there…
  • is talented…
  • gets a mani/pedi every week because she likes feeling good about how she looks even as she’s shrinking…
  • is loved by her family and friends regardless of size…
  • inspires strangers…
  • loves the support she receives from her friends in the blogosphere…
  • will reach her goal and continue to be the best version of herself each day…
  • doesn’t have to create a New Year’s resolution this year because she’s already several months into her healthy lifestyle. And she is already resolved to maintain it…
So, you see? Every time I head to the gym even when I don’t feel like it….and every time I choose a healthy dinner option…and every time I do something even if it is outside of my comfort zone, I become that girl. I become the person I want to be.

I love this post! It's so good to see that some people, like you, see the positive side of life! I'm all for that.

Funny about your last line, I've been thinking about my New Year's resolution too but I couldn't make one up either because I'm finally living healthier and exercising and those have been my resolutions for the last 10 years but this year I finally did it.

    Great post Kenz, you're amazing!
