I believe, just as Vincent Van Gogh said, that ‘in order to know life one must love many things.’ So I am going to blog a few of my favorite things. And I’d love to know about your favorite things too! This week, the topic is:
My Favorite Memories from 2009
Last year was a big year for me, and it would be hard to pick one favorite moment so I’ll share a few…
My happiest moment of 2009, was meeting my new, precious niece, Hannah. She fills my heart with a love that is stronger than I could have imagined prior to holding her. She’s beautiful and happy and lovely, and I am so excited to be her auntie. I can’t wait to see her grow!
And, of course…my weight-loss journey began. On April 2, I made a commitment to change my lifestyle and learn to be healthy. And I remember walking into a room full of strangers and leaving with friends. I remember sitting with my WW leader and receptionist, knowing that my life had just changed.
We went on some awesome beach vacations last year too. I really enjoyed Aruba in spite of my broken foot, but it will be fun to go back with properly functioning limbs and a smaller body. 🙂 I can’t wait.
I also have some fond memories of my 29th birthday. We celebrated a week early because my childhood friend came in for a visit, and we started our day sailing on the Hudson. It was beautiful until the black clouds opened above us leaving us drenched. We could not have been wetter if we had been swimming in the Hudson River, but we changed clothes and finished up the evening with my friends eating Thai food then dancing the night away before walking aimlessly around SoHo until we finally went to sleep as the sun came up.
And, of course, I will never forget how excited I was when I rode my new bicycle for the first time. It was an incredible and freeing experience, and I cannot wait to get out and ride tomorrow. It’s supposed to be in he mid-forties here tomorrow which means I’ll be out enjoying it.
I have been so utterly blessed that it would be impossible to list all of the wonderful memories I created with friends and family last year. And that makes me thankful. What did you enjoy most last year? What will you look back on and remember for years to come?
