Friends Healthy Habits New York City Reflection

A Defining Moment

The numbers on the scale are important during anyone’s weight loss journey. And while I love seeing those numbers go down, there are other defining moments that make me want to keep this life that I’m carving out for myself. Yesterday was the biggest example of that to date.

I spent the entire day playing tour guide- we’re talking noon to midnight – with friends who are visiting from out of town. And at several points during our adventures I realized that I was not tired. No one had to slow down so I could keep up. And I didn’t skip anything I wanted them to see because my feet hurt.

We walked around Times Square, went to the “Top of the Rock” (the top of Rockefeller Center where Saturday Night Live and other NBC shows are filmed – the best view of NYC, in my opinion) and enjoyed a sunset sail on the Hudson River. I even got to drive the boat for a few minutes…Thanks Captain! πŸ™‚

We also managed to enjoy lunch at my favorite deli, dinner at my favorite restaurant and cupcakes from my favorite bakery. Hey…they’re my favorite because they’re the best! πŸ™‚ By the end of the night I was tired, but I was not exhausted. I was not in pain nor did I dread doing it again later this week. I am ready. My body is ready.

(Dinner – Pad See Yew at my favorite Thai restaurant..only 4 WW points per cup.)
(A cupcake from Magnolia Bakery…yum!)

I wish I could convey the difference I feel, but it would be impossible to fully comprehend unless you’ve been there too. I cannot imagine how I’ll feel after my next 100 pounds, but I’m ready to find out.

Life as I knew it has changed, and I have a feeling that it’s going to keep getting better!

On a different note…it has been a year since I started tracking cardio on the side of my blog, and it has helped motivate me to reach my goals. So I’m going to start posting the information once a month (before I delete it from the side bar) so I have a more specific record of my cardio workouts.

Kenz, you look wonderful and I second the love for your maxi dress! I spent time at the zoo with friends from Atlanta today, and I can also say that I didn't get tired and my feet didn't hurt (I put my arch support in my gladiator sandals!). I'm so glad you got to enjoy your friends, and your cupcake!

You're so lucky living in New York. I don't know I envy more, you in NY or Diz in Cali. I'll have to get to both someday. So beautiful Kenz, so glad I get to be a part of your journey in some small way πŸ˜‰
