Positive Effect Water Challenge

Most of us know how important it is to drink water, but many of us don’t drink enough. So Sean from The Daily Diary of a Winning Loser and I have decided to challenge each other to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. We will begin on Monday, July 12 and end on Sunday, August 1st. Three weeks is long enough to form a positive, healthy habit – and that’s the goal.

Staying hydrated is important – especially during the summer. I love spending time in the sun walking/jogging, swimming and relaxing – all of which requires extra hydration. It’s good for our skin. It’s good for our blood flow, and it helps wash out toxins. It also helps me feel fuller throughout the day! Sometimes I think I’m hungry then I realize that I’m actually just thirsty.

I’m pretty good at drinking at least 8 glasses a day because I drink about 32 oz. during an average workout so my goal is to stay hydrated throughout the day even if that means I need to drink more than I do now.

Water is essential to good health so we’re going to drink more of it. And we’d love for you to join us. One of the reasons I love this blogging, weight-loss community is that we are in this together. If you want to be part of the challenge then leave a comment on my blog or Sean’s before Monday stating how much water you’d like to drink each day. If 8 glasses seems too hard, try 6.
We will post our updates on Sunday evenings, and we want to hear about your progress as well!

If you’re ready to form healthy habits then join us. If you already rock your daily water intake then please share your tips and tricks with us..

One more thing…

This message is for those of you interested in joining us for this challenge. Before we begin please be aware that there is such a thing as drinking too much water. Please understand that our personal goals are to drink 64 oz. per day which is widely accepted as a healthy amount of water consumption. Sean and Kenz are not medical or nutritional experts, they are just really cool weight loss bloggers. Please consult a qualified physician before starting any weight-loss regimen.

I rock my water intake on days in the office. (Go Crystal Light!) This is a great way to remind myself to keep it up on the weekends.

Ps..I read somewhere that you should drink half of your weight in ounces. When I started I would have been swimming but I think 105 oz isn't too much to ask for so I'm going to strive for that.

Great challenge idea, first of all!!!! Gotta love the H2O! πŸ˜‰

I get my water in every day by keeping a 32-oz. Nalgene bottle at my desk. I fill it up two or three times per day. On the weekends, I get a little lax … but overall, I do pretty well. πŸ˜‰

I've also found that I go through phases. Sometimes I like water at room temp, other times icy! Sometimes I like plain water, other times Crystal Light. πŸ™‚

Good luck!!!! You can do it!!!!

I've been trying for the last 3-4 weeks to drink 64 oz a day, and have been fairly successful! I find having a water bottle with a straw in it really helps me drink as much as I need to!

My biggest issue is that I have to pee every five minutes because of this.

Props to you two for starting a challenge! It's a great goal to have!!

Does plain water only count, or do other beverages count as well? For example, Crystal Light, diet soda, juice, milk, coffee, or tea.

Hi Kenz. I drinks lots of water every day. I try to get in 64 oz. I don't usually have a problem. I also use Benefibre in my water. It keeps the bowels moving regular πŸ™‚ and is supposed to fill you up, but I'm not sure about that. Good luck with your challenge.

Hi Kenz. I had a comment written & I don’t know what happened to it. Anywho, great idea with this challenge! I start my day everyday with about 25 oz of water, then consume it during the day. I get in about 100 oz daily, and most of my water consumption comes during my workouts. I sweat like crazy.

Blogger is definitely STILL buggy! ack.

Love your challenge logo! πŸ˜€ Very cute.

I've been drinking 63oz of water a day for a few months now. It has gotten much easier than it had been. I still have to keep it in mind, tho. Uh-hmm. I still have to use my mean mother voice with myself, too! Left to my own devices, my body thinks it lives in the Sahara!

If all I have to do is drink the water and log in on Sundays to report, I'm yours. πŸ˜€ It'll keep me motivated.

    For freedom!

Count me in, this is a great idea! I'm not very good about drinking enough water every day. I start out doing well, but almost always end the day without enough and I don't want to drink a bunch right before I go to bed to catch up and then end up getting up several times throughout the night! πŸ˜‰

If you have an iPhone, there is an app called Water my Body that helps keep track of water intake. I just got it the other day and now I'll be better about using it!

I don't think I should participate in the challenge because I've already established a habit of drinking a gallon (or better) of water a day. Sometimes I do slack a bit, so I'll try to make my minimum a gallon in honor of the challenge.

What I can tell everyone is that before I started paying attention to my water consumption and increasing it, I often had to moisturize my dry elbows multiple times a day. I often had a dry left eye. Dry knees. Flaky feet.

If I drink my gallon to gallon and a half of water, all these symptoms DISAPPEAR! I think many of us, at least women, rely on buying moisturizers and such-like products and what we really need is enough plain old H2O.

As mentioned, you don't want to drink all your water at once, that's where large quantities of water can get dangerous. But consumed throughout the day, water isn't going to hurt you. A good guide is to drink until your pee is clear. Trust me, when you start drinking enough water, you'll have plenty of opportunities to check that, LOL!

OMG, do I need this challenge! I rarely drink more than 16 oz of water a day. On office days, I might drink 20 to 40 oz. Instead of drinking water, like I know that I should, I am drinking Diet Mountain Dew or Diet Coke. Drinking 8 glasses or more of water per day is definitely a habit I need to form. Count me in!
