Friend Makin’ Mondays: What Did You Do?

It’s a new year, and I can’t think of a better way to start FMM 2011 than by sharing what we did on the first day of the year. If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add a link at the bottom of this post so we can all see your post. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts.

This week’s question is…

How did you celebrate the new year? Details, please!

I spent the weekend in Texas, and it was a great way to celebrate the new year. Janna and I had a blast in Austin! We took pictures at the beautiful State Capitol and at the tower at UT. We ate sushi and other good food, and we had a great time talking about life, boys and many other things. She met some of my family in Houston, and I met some of her family and friends too. Her nieces are totally ‘super.’ 😉

Janna took this picture of me with my iPhone, and look at the sky. It was brilliantly blue…a perfect day…
We ate pumpkin pancakes with friends too..they were so delicious and big! I couldn’t finish them, but I enjoyed every bite I consumed.

I also got to enjoy some time with my “cousinlaws” (yeah, I made up a word.) I copied a zillion recipes for my recipe books and laughed into the wee hours. On our way home, a woman who was driving recklessly drew her gun and waved it at us. My cousin, who happens to be a police officer, drew his much bigger and scarier gun, waved his badge and he made the woman pull over. It was scary for a few minutes, but I take comfort in the fact that there are many big, fearless, protective men in my family.

How did you celebrate the new year? What are you looking forward to most in 2011? Don’t forget to add your link! And enjoy the third day of our new year! =)

Happy New Year Kenz! That is quite a New Year's Eve/New Year story! I guess you roll with an interesting crowd in Texas…. haha.

I am gonna break the rules a little, answer here in the comment and leave a link to my blog, will that be ok?

I had a hoot of a time both NYE and on NY Day. NYE, my family and I went to our dear friends the Hunter's house and we partied he night away watching movies, playing Wii Just Dance 2, and the Michael Jackson Experience, and also got some singing in on Rock Star I think is the name of the game. We rang in the New Year and visited for a bit longer and then the Griffin family rolled back to the house and slept late on New Year's day. Then I got up, got coffee in me, woke up the family and off we went to my swearing in ceremony and the first Quorum Court meeting of my political career. It was supposed to be a quickie, but an appropriation ordinance was before us that wound up being debated hotly for about a half hour, and then the public comments wound up being a bit uncomfortable regarding that ordinance. All in all an interesting first day! I then came home and hit the pavement for my walk. Given that my routine was so out of whack for the day, I had decided to just do a couple of miles of walking for the day since it was so cold, but I wound up doing 4 miles as I kept thinking about how to solve our problem with the ordinance. I ended the day with a dance off with Kathy on the Just Dance game we have and she skunked me again! I then talked her into some Wii bowling. She stomped me in 2 out of 3 on it also. So I conceded her superiority, we ate supper and settled in for some tv time and bed by 9! Loved it!

Ok, here is the link to my blog for anyone who may be interested in dropping by!
