Questions Reflection

A Few Things I’d Like To know

Today is going to be a very busy day for me so I’m going to ask a few questions that I always want to ask of my friends and readers.  This isn’t Monday so no linking up is required (unless, of coruse, you want to.)  I’d just like to know more about those of you who take the time to grace my blog with support and encouragment.

1) Are you male or female? female πŸ™‚

2) How old are you? (If you don’t want to be specific, just list a general age range.) 30

3) Do you blog? What’s the address? (I’ve asked this a couple of times before, but I think it’s so much fun to discover and rediscover blogs.)  I think this post speaks for itself. πŸ˜‰

4) Are you on Facebook? Do you tweet? Yes and yes..Add me and/or follow if you want to.

5) Bloggers: How has blogging affected you and your goals?  I’ve learned so much about myself, and I’ve experienced unwavering support and encouragement from people who seem to accept me as I am while rooting for me along this journey.  It has also kept me accountable for the last two years, and that is priceless.

I hope you enjoy answering the questions.  I know I’m looking forward to reading your answers.

Hey, I've been reading for a while now, but I've never commented before. My answers…

    3 Yes… http://www.bigfatbiker.com
4 No, well at least not with anything I keep linked to the blog, right now I want to keep them seperate
5 This is a new blog, but I'm not a blogging newbie. I've had more than one that I've started and stopped when either I gained weight or stopped exercising. I started this one because I want it to be more about biking as part of my life, instead of as part of a weight loss regime. Since I've started commuting with my bike and using it for travel and not just exercise, I've learned to love it more, so it makes me want to share it more on a blog. πŸ™‚

    Female, 51, and, yeah, I blog: http://happyweightafter.blogspot.com

I am on Facebook, but I've too many friends now so not accepting. πŸ™‚ I keep it mostly for family, longtime pals, and writing peops. I blog to be accountable, to support others, to keep a journal of my progress (and setbacks), to keep an active presence of stuff that's helpful to me for reference (ie, blogs, sites), to be my place to "weigh-in" and show before/afters. It's a motivational and support tool for me. And a way for me to reach out to those who are where I was (300 lbs, sickly, aging, tired, wondering if weight loss was even really gonna ever happen) to see that even someone like me who'd failed and failed could finally make progress. My PHAT PILATES page (tab under the header) was my way of solving a problem I had 3 years ago. No mobidly obese people documenting their Pilates experiences. So, I did it so others can SEE a fat gal doing Pilates and not be afraid to try it.

Blogging at first helped me learn about tools and the fatfighting blogging community. Blogging NOW is about meeting goals. It helps me stay accountable above all.

I derive a lot of motivation from other people's blogs. I am still trying to figure out how to balance the weight loss lifestyle, to my home and work life, which has been a huge struggle. That seems to be the main focus of my blog these days. I did decide to create a goal of reaching a dream weight by my birthday, 12/12/2012 – I plan on sticking to it.

    3) Do you blog? What's the address? yes.. http://www.losingitforthefamily.blogspot.com

    4) Are you on Facebook? Do you tweet? facebook yes

    5) Bloggers: How has blogging affected you and your goals? I've both gained and offered support to other bloggers and I think that the support in weight loss blogland means more because the people there GET you, they know what the struggles are like cause they have the same struggles. I think weight loss blogging was the hugest key for me and my success. When my skinny friends supported me, it wasn't the same because they didn't understand that I was just as frustrated as they were that I ate the way I did, but it was an out of control thing. It seems once I found people who understood, it helped me realize more fully the absurdity of it. That was when the battle started turning for me!

    4) Are you on Facebook? Do you tweet? FB – yes. Twitter – no. My friends and family do not know about my blog, though, so I don't have it linked. My friends and family know I am being healthier, but I don't want to admit some of the embarrassing thoughts and feelings with them and have them pity me. And, I want to be able to vent about things on my blog.

    5) Bloggers: How has blogging affected you and your goals? I feel more accountable. I feel like a bunch of strangers in the same boat aren't just going to be nice because they love me or care about me. They are going to kick my butt and tell it to me straight. And, I really need that!

    5) Bloggers: How has blogging affected you and your goals? The accountability issue has really helped, as has the navel-gazing necessary to generate post after post for almost five years. I now know better about my triggers, how my cycle has a definite and real impact on what the scale says, and that it doesn't matter what I'm doing to lose as long as it's a nutritionally sound plan that works!

    4. I am on Facebook. No, I don't Tweet.
    5. Blogging for me is more like an online journal. I'm not sure if it has held me accountable (my running blog), because there were a few months last summer when I didn't do so well. However, I love getting comments. I love it when I can acknowledge that I am improving. I also love reading other people's blogs. That gives me motivation.
