FMM: A Letter to My Future Self

This is my first post from California so it’s pretty fitting that Alexa from The Curvy Nerd (one of my super cool L.A. friends) has chosen this week’s topic. She likes to make people think so get ready…

If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section here at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!

FMM: A Letter To My Future Self

Dear Future Self,

I have so many questions for you!  Are you happy?  Are you in love?  Do you feel pretty?  How much do you weigh?  What’s your favorite food?  Where do you live?  Do you still workout regularly?  What have you been doing with your life?

You should probably know that I’m 31 years old right now.  I know I probably sound younger because I still have so many questions for you, but what can I say?  I’m still trying to figure myself out.

I moved to California yesterday, and I’m trying to figure out how to become the person I want to be.  I’ve lost over 100 pounds – one of the most rewarding things I’ve done so far.  Can you top that?  (I hope so..particularly since I need to lose another 100 plus pounds.) I hope you can top that too.

The truth is, Self, this letter isn’t easy to write because I’m still nervous about the future so I’m just going to give you some advice  – yep, advice.

You’re worth the effort it takes to keep moving forward.  If you’ve stalled or let other things get in the way of your health, stop now.  You matter, and I love you…and your family loves you so do your best…..

Now it’s your turn…Don’t forget to come back and link up!

So glad you made it to California safe and sound. It’s funny, I wrote a similar letter to myself back in June – I wish I’d done it at the start of my journey or even a video to myself (like on biggest loser)… http://onprogram.blogspot.com/2011/06/letter-to-my-skinny-self.html

Oooo, this is a great topic! Congrats on your move; I too have been following (on twitter!), I hope it is everything you want it to be.

At 31, I too still needed to figure out where I was going – I’m a little older now, and am on a path I’m happy with. This was a great opportunity to reflect on my journey – and remind myself that there is still so much to come!

So glad to hear from you so soon! I thought it would be a few days 🙂 Okay, so it isn’t exactly what you asked for, but it’s similar (and I wrote it a while back). It’s a letter to my teen self: http://www.kclanderson.com/a-letter-to-my-teen-self I really liked it and wanted to share.

Wow. This was a crazy good topic. I didn’t work on it non-stop, but it did take me a few hours to write this. I’m sure I left a million things off but this was a powerful exercise. Thanks so much to Alexa for choosing such a fascinating topic.

Best of luck, Kenlie. You’re going to do great things with your life!
