A Winner, Late Night Workouts and Sleep

First I want to thank everyone who participated in the 28-Day Boot Camp DVD giveaway with Coach Nicole.  And the winner is Anne S. who said this…

Pick me! Pick me!
To win this DVD
And in a short while
it’s RESULTS you will SEE !!!!!!!!!

I love the poem Anne! Congrats!  Look for an e-mail from me tomorrow!  I have to say that I know Anne personally, and I know she’ll love this DVD!  And if you didn’t win this time, don’t worry.  There are some fun things coming up on my blog with Nicole and SparkPeople!  But first, let’s talk about some other stuff…

Yesterday was a long day, and I’m glad it’s over.  I accomplished a lot, but I didn’t make time to workout until 10pm.   When I got home I wanted to watch the premier of Smash.  (Hey, I have priorities.)  Did anyone else watch it?  If so, what did you think?  I loved it!  I also painted my nails only to decide that I didn’t like the color.

I need a tan before I wear Sand Tropez by Essie.

Anyway, if you know me, you know that I often exercise when others are thinking about going to sleep, but exercising late is better than not exercising….Or is it?

Sleep is an important part of healthy living too, and as I shared recently, I’m trying to sleep more.  Do you get enough sleep every night?  Or do you struggle to get as much as you believe your body needs?

I don’t sleep as well as I used to now that I am in my 40’s, but yes I believe that sleep is really important to health and weight loss. I like to exercise around 8 or 8:30 PM. My schedule dictates it, but I also feel best then. Fortunately after a shower it does not take me long to wind down.

I usually sacrifice an hour or so of sleep in the morning to get up early to work out, so I could see wanting to do the same thing at night. If given the chance, I’ll oversleep which feels worse than getting too little. I aim for 7-8 a night, but it definitely doesn’t always happen.

First let me say that you have beautiful nails/hand…you should be a model. No matter what the color (although I like the dark colors on you), you do a great job.

My sleep habits are bad..I just go to sleep when I’m tired. Unfortunately, I have to wake up at 5:30 am every (week)day. Love the weekends when I get to wake up naturally…or whenever my body opens the eyes.

    Have a great day!

Thanks Eliza. 🙂 There are light colors that look better than that color. I took it off shortly after putting it on.

I love days in which I can wake up naturally too.

I force myself to get up early to work out, which means I’m usually exhausted at night and have no trouble going to bed early. But when I stay up too late one night, I drag through the next day, but I try to avoid getting into that cycle when possible. I once heard that everything you do — except sleep — is a choice. Your body at a certain point will involuntarily sleep, but all your other time allocation is your choice. It’s an interesting perspective. I try hard to make sure there’s adequate time for sleeping and working out, but sometimes other things suffer…

Oh Nina…that’s not good. I hope the stress eases up soon. Feeling like a zombie just makes it all worse.

I read that article yesterday and thought about sharing it on my blog. I definitely have some things to say about it…

Exercise helps me sleep longer but I have to have it earlier in the day because if I exercise in the evening I’m somehow energized and go to bed later and take a while to get to sleep.

“Smash” is waiting in my DVR for me – I’m looking forward to it, though. It seems like it’s bound to be a hit.

That nail color seems difficult for most skin tones – I know it would look awful on my olive skin.

It’s funny that you worked out late last night – I did too. I started at 10:30-11pm, and it was SO hard for me to go to sleep afterward. I’m glad I got the workout in, but sleep is important, too.
