Exercise and Other Stuff

It’s been another action-packed 24 hours, but I’ve had some interesting experiences which included a couple of great workouts at the fancy gym.  I’m not exaggerating when I say that there’s something about that place that makes me want to workout hard.  I love it, and I’m looking forward my training session tomorrow morning.  And because working out with friends is more fun, I plan to hit the gym in the evening as well.  Planks, anyone?

She's tough, but she's fun..

Megan and I have been friends for several years, and she has never hesitated to go for the gusto!  I was exhausted after climbing the ladder, the metal wall, boxing,  running with Ty and other things, but we planked anyway.  In the photo above she’s telling commanding me to do it one more time.  My core is so sore, but it was so worth it.

I’ve done a little air boxing, but over the last few days I’ve taken it to the punching bag.  And wow! It’s such an intense cardio workout!  Who knew?  Plus, I think the pink gloves are cute.

I look tough, right? I know. ;)

So…Life has been busy, but it has also been productive.  Tomorrow is a new day, and I plan to hit it hard again at the gym.  I’m also concentrating on making good food choices which is harder for me than exercise.  What’s on your agenda?  What’s for lunch?  I’ve been obsessed with light Caesar salads lately, but I need some fresh ideas.  Help a girl out, will you please?

  1. Hi Kenlie! This is my first comment, and I gotta tell you: you are doing great job! I’ve lost weight around 90lbs a while ago and now I’m trying to get rid of 40 or 45lbs (to reach my final target weight). I just wanted to cheer you from Finland :) Let’s get planking :D

  2. I know this sounds crazy, but as the weather heats up I just want lighter foods for lunch and things I don’t have to heat or cook (no central ac in the house). Fav. snack (I learned it when doing atkins) is taking the thick slices of low fat turkey slices (long ones, squares) and folding them in half, then I stack a slice of low fat cheese (of choice), the a slice or two of tomato, then spread some mayo or mustard or whatever you like with some salt (the southerner in me will not let me eat a tomato without salt). I then take a fork and knife and cut off bite size piece to eat. I usually do two for lunch with a piece of fruit or something. A friend has used balsamic vinegar. The cutting part helps me eat slower, I guess you could find a way to pick it up and eat it, lol. I find it a refreshing lunch during the hotter months. Oh, and I only buy the tomatoes from the market that still have the vine attached, they are the closes thing to garden tomatoes as you can get until the garden starts putting out, lol.

    • I’m with you on the turkey part of this, but salt on tomatoes? Yuck. =) I’ll try the rest though…Nice idea..Thank you.

  3. I’m eager to read what other folks are eating for lunch because I’m in a bit of a lunch rut. Lots of salads are going through my body since it’s just easy. I need to make something this weekend so I can bring leftovers with me next week to work.

  4. I’m a huge fan of left overs. I love grilling chicken in bulk so I can just cut it up and add it to a salad or something. However, on occasion I do want something other than a salad. Chili/Soups are super easy and make great left overs, but the summer months are harder to do that. Here in the south it gets stinkin’ hot and chili just isn’t that yummy when you’re hot! I’m like Brooke in that sense, I like lighter, cooler meals during the summer. As another option, I love some fresh veggies/fruit with my grilled chicken or wrap for lunch. Filling, healthy, and yummy! :)

  5. What a great mix of things to keep you going! I need to find some new variety in my workouts- I burnt out on the gym so lately I’ve been walking the neighborhood a lot, and playing DDR. Better than nothing!

  6. What’s the “metal wall”? Great workouts Kenlie! I too need to come up with some ideas for lunch. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I would eat fried crap at the office cafeteria. Now I am trying to stay under 1600 calories a day so bringing a lunch is essential. I’m just not good at it. Maybe some grilled chicken and veggies would be nice. I need something easy though or it probably won’t happen.
