Mother’s Day Weekend

I had one of those weekends that was awesome and exhausting, and as I write this post I’m so thankful. I spent Mother’s Day with Mom today, and she’s continuing to recover from the strokes she had a few weeks ago. I’ve never been more thankful to spend time with her than I was today.

When I arrived at her house we both took naps, then we ate watermelon, spent time with the neighbor and played Bananagrams. We didn’t do anything particularly exciting, but I was overwhelmed with gratitude that she’s here and healing. I’m just so relieved that God is in control – even through the scariest of circumstances, and I’m also thankful that I recognized that in the midst of everything.

I have a lot to discuss here – protein shakes, TRX and swimming, but right now I’m beat. I’m looking forward to relaxing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I just need to power through a few days first.

I’m going to start the week off right be getting some sleep. My goal is to sleep for 7 to 8 hours. Am I the only one who needs that much to feel refreshed the next morning?

    My mom wanted to play bananagrams! But we settled for rummikub instead 🙂 (she won!) (I didn’t let her.) Glad you had a good mother’s day with your mom!

    SLEEP – I try and try to get at least 7 hours of sleep but seem to average 6 – but I’ll take thos 6 hours because I had insomnia for too long. (A big part of it was anxiety but also I was taking my blood pressure medicine at night which is at a time when your body’s blood pressure lowers naturally..so adding the medicine had my blood pressure lowering too much and my body would stay awake in order to keep my blood pressure high enough. A pharmacist help me figure that out! But the anxiety from losing sleep in the middle of the night still haunts me, and I struggle to get enough sleep.

    My current problem is that I sleep very fitfully from 10 PM to 2 AM then suddenly my body must be exhausted because I sleep a deeper sleep from 2 AM until my 6 AM alarm. (fitbit helps me track my sleep and wake times)

    How are you handling your sleep/need for sleep?

    So glad your mom is doing well. Have you always not required much sleep? I used to love 9-10 hours but now at my age, I only get 7-8 but I always take a little ‘restie’ if I’m home- never go to sleep but relax in bed with a book. My problem is I never sleep after 5 AM so that means I need to go to bed early.

    I am so pleased to read that mum is doing well and healing
    What a precious time you had with her and a added blessing that you realise how precious the time was and that God was and is in control

    Cant wait to see what you have to say on protein shakes
