Training Myself To Be An Early Bird

This is a busy season of life, and a couple of weeks ago I decided to make some adjustments in my time management. I’ve said no at times when I would normally say yes, and I started getting up earlier than normal when we returned home from Colorado earlier this month.

Now instead of getting up during the 8 o’clock hour and strolling toward between 10 and 11, I’m waking up between 6 and 7 and striving to get to work between 8 and 9. I realize that’s not early for most people, but it significantly increases the time I have to accomplish other things throughout the day. And I really like it.

As an adult I have always been a night owl, but next month I will be living with an early bird. When the sun is up Michael is up, and he’s ready for bed much earlier than most other 30-year old guys.

I’ve always been attracted to older men, but I found the best of both worlds with him. He’s several years younger than I am, but he acts like he’s in his 50’s. That’s the perfect combination if you ask me!

There will still be nights when I go to bed after him, but I’m adjusting to my new schedule nicely. I like the quiet times that I get to spend with him before the day gets busy, and I accomplish so much more in the quiet hours at work before everyone else arrives. I got a promotion at work too, so going in early seems to be working great so far.

Are you an early bird? If so, did it come naturally to you?

I’m an early bird too- I believe it is inherent in your nature, but it can be changed. I love to get up early- usually by 5 AM but I am in bed by 9. My husband was a night owl and we got along just fine. Don’t worry about it- after the first couple of years of marriage, you will have everything sorted out! I bet you are getting excited about the wedding.

Always go to bed together! There’s the cuddling and the sex and the talks. It’s a very intimate time. Please don’t deprive yourselves of the closeness that comes from those bedtime hours.

My husband and I always go to bed at the same time. Maybe that’s weird, but it’s just what we do, ha ha. And when my son was born (he’s 4 now) he forced us to be early risers all the time. If we get to sleep in until 7:30 on a weekend, it’s a miracle! And sometimes we go to bed by 10:30 which is much earlier for us! I know we need more sleep and really should go to bed closer to 10 or earlier since I get up at 5:50 on weekdays!
