Last week was a tough week at work because my boss left. I sulked about it because I was his favorite and vice versa. I think he’ll go on to do different things that are more suited to him, but I could live without all of the changes at work right now. There’s major change happening in every area of my life right now – most of them good. It’s just a lot to take in all at once.
By the end of the week I was wiped out, and my plan was to relax at home Friday night. It didn’t happen like that though, which is great, because I had a wonderful weekend.
Friday night a childhood dream came true for me. I loved New Kids on the Block from the time I was 10 years old until much later than I was willing to admit. Jordan was my favorite, and he still is! I wasn’t allowed to listen to them growing up, but I always told myself that someday I’d see them in concert. Twenty-five years later it happened.
I knew they were coming to New Orleans because the venue is in my neighborhood, and my friends and I seriously considered going. We decided against it because we’re all planning weddings, but when our boss gave us tickets last Friday there was no doubt that we were going.
Before New Kids, Boys II Men performed, and so did Paula Abdul. My tween self went nuts, and seeing that show was one of the coolest, most fun things I’ve done all year! Seriously, Jordan…I’ll be loving you forever…I’ve been to some pretty spectacular live shows, but this one will always hold a special place in my heart because it was a life goal.
Saturday was a fun day too. Michael and I got to spend the evening with family as friends got married. It was a beautiful wedding and reception, and I had the honor of singing as they walked down the aisle. After that we talked, danced and ate delicious food. It turns out my man has moves. He crushed it during Foot Loose, which was pretty hot, in my opinion. 😉
Sunday our close friends, Elaine and Carl, are getting married, so we’ll be partying it up again with them before our wedding later that week. Good grief.
Time feels like it’s flying by, and I can’t believe that I’m going to be a wife soon…like really soon. I’m excited, and I may have more to say about that in a blog post later.
Life is good right now, and I’m thankful for it. I’ve dreamed of so many things that are my reality now, and I feel so thankful and so blessed.
