    Hi Kenlie I read your article on Spark People and it really resonated with me. There’s so many questions I’d love to ask but for now I just want to simply say Thank you for Sharing how it feels to lose your first 100lbs. It’s truly an inspiration.

    Hi Kenlie, Read your on Spark People and congratulations! I am a 76 yr old woman who decided to get healthier on January 1st of this year. I have never stayed on a diet longer than 3 weeks until now. I am still losing. So far I have lost 35 lbs. by eating fruits, vegetables, salmon, chicken and turkey breasts and no processed foods. No sugar or white floor and I have limited my carb intake. I can’t exercise because I have a ruptured disk in my spine and two knees that need replacing. I’m looking for an aquatic center where I can at least get some low-impact exercise in the water. I’m not on a diet. I consider this a change of eating habits. It isn’t easy but I intend to stick with it. I am no longer pre-diabetic and my blood pressure is now normal. One thing that has helped me stick with it is popcorn. I buy bags of it from Costco. It is only 140 or 150 calories, depending on which of the two brands they carry. I eat that and drink a big glass of water and it does the trick until my next meal. Another trick that has made it possible to stay with it is Sunday can be my “cheat day” if I need/want. It can be the whole day, or a meal or just one item. At first it was a whole meal, then it was just one item as I didn’t want to increase the number on the scale too much. If I didn’t have this option I wouldn’t still be on this “change of eating habits.” It is definitely a journey for us with lots of bumps in the road but we will make it to the finish line and be successful! This is the first time I have written to anyone about this and I hope it helps. Hang in there!
