EatSmart Makes Eating Smart Easy

I’ve been feeling good about my workouts lately, and I’ve been doing well with my food intake too.  I can still improve a lot, but I feel like I’m finding my way back to a healthy track.

I’m making an effort to eat at home more often because it’s easier to make good choices when I do.  I weigh and measure everything at home, and I want you to be able to do it too which leads me to today’s topic.

My new EatSmart food scale is amazing.  I love every EatSmart product that I own, but this scale is particularly awesome because it’s easy to use, easy to read and the platform for measurement is much bigger than any other food scale I’ve ever owned.  My favorite thing about this scale is its giant, lighted display, but I also appreciate how easy it is to make note of exactly what I’m consuming.

When I eat a giant salad I like a little salad dressing, but it’s easy to eat more of it than we realize we’re eating so I place my salad on the scale, and I measure one serving of dressing.  It is a lot more precise than using a spoon, or eyeballing it.

It looks nice on my counter too so it’s already ready to use when I’m ready to measure.  When it’s easy to do it, we’re more likely to make good choices.  I’m not the only one who feels this way, right?

Who Wants To EatSmart?

We’re ten days into the new year, and I’m guessing that most of us are still working to live healthy lives everyday.  One thing I use to stay on track is myEatSmart digital kitchen scale.  I love it, and I’ve use it several times a day since I got it in May.  I weigh chicken and other meats and nuts, cereal…and I even use it to measure things like salad dressing and peanut butter in grams.  It’s easy to use and features more than a few weight options and a giant screen that is easy to read.  It’s also easier to turn on and off than my last kitchen scale.

I don’t know what I’d do without my kitchen scale, and EatSmart is going to give one Eat Smart Precision Pro Kitchen Scale to one of my readers!

There’s more than one way to enter so take a few minutes to check out the options!

Another Successful Day and A Winner

It seems like I’ve fallen into the habit of blogging at the end of the day so it makes sense that I am exhausted.  My sister and niece left late Monday, and I miss them like c-r-a-z-y.  I put off a lot of things I needed to do last week, wrapped up in my time with them instead which I quite enjoyed!  But it’s back to the grind…

I’m happy to report that day 2 has been a success, and I am looking forward to a night of rest before tacking day 3.  I’ve been eating well and working out, and I’m feeling stronger than I was only days ago.  I have errands to run tomorrow, and I really need to buckle down and focus on a project that I’m working on now.  I’m sure it will all seem less overwhelming tomorrow.

When I’m tired, I sometimes struggle with making good food choices.  It’s easier to grab something quickly than to take a few moments to create a healthy and satisfying meal.  So it’s a good thing I did that yesterday! =)  Cooking for one has never been fun for me, but cooking for two works so last night I created a quick meal with sauteed onions, green peppers, broccoli and chicken and served it over rice.  I ate half then ate the other half for dinner the next day.  Each serving was 5P+.  I hadn’t noticed that, when cooked together, veggies stop being zero.  These things matter!  How did I miss this? Anyway, 5 P+ still made the dish a big win!

Lots of green and flavor!

It’s not rocket science, I know..but I’ve never been a fan of leftovers!  And most of my adult life, I have refused to eat them so a light bulb went off.  And I’ve decided that if I cook things that typically taste better the next day that I’m more likely to eat it.  Sometimes a dose of common sense and a dash of teriyaki sauce can work like a charm. 😉

And now, before I sleep, I want to announce the winner of the EatSmart Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale!  Before I do that,  I want you all to know that the folks at EatSmart really appreciated all of the love! And they look forward to doing over giveaways here so stay tuned, okay?

I get even chattier when I’m tired so I’ll just announce that the winner is Barbara Kroontje!  I know her, and I know that she’ll be thrilled to see that she has won the scale!  Barbara K. wrote,

I would love to have scales like this. The ones I have always give a different number every time I step on them. I can weigh myself step off the scales and step right back on them and they will read five to six pds different. I need something that I can rely on. Thank you, Barbara.”

Congratulations Barbara K!  I’ll e-mail you Tuesday, and you’ll have until Thursday to get back to me with the required information or a new winner will be chosen!  Thanks so much to everyone who participated, and remember…we’ll be having more fun with EatSmart soon!

Now it’s time to sleep…What do you hope to accomplish today?  What will you eat for dinner?

Weigh In For Your Chance To Win

Yesterday I asked you to share your weigh-in habits with me, and many of you weigh yourselves more than I’ve ever dreamed of weighing myself!  I typically weigh-in once a week (though I’m out of town today which means I won’t weigh-in until next Friday) and find myself wanting to step on the scale more and more lately.

One’s relationship with the scale is a tricky thing, but the bottom line is that it’s a basic and necessary tool when the goal is weight-loss.  People tell say “forget the scale” or “lose the scale” or “it’s just a number.”  And while it is just a number, it is monumentally important for me to watch that number go down.

I’m ready to see that number decrease more regularly again in my own life, and I know many of you have the same goal.  And having an accuracte scale that can support my weight plus some is important to me because when I tipped the scales at 400 pounds, it was nearly impossible to find a scale that could accomodate my size.

The good folks at EatSmart understand the value of a durable and accurate scale as much as they understand the value of a healthy lifestyle so they’re going to see to it that one of you receives a new Precision Plus Digital Bathroom Scale!  How cool is that?  And what’s even cooler is that this scale has the capacity to weigh up to 440 lbs.  I love this scale because the display is huge, and it would have worked for me at my heaviest.

Winning is simple, and there are a few ways to do it:

1) Take a look at the Precision Plus Digital Scale here then come back and tell me if you would benefit by owning it!  (one entry)

2) Follow @eatsmartscales on twitter and tell them @alltheweigh says hi! (two entries)

3) Like EatSmart on Facebook and tell them you’re participating in this giveaway.  Feel free to tell me hi on my page too though it’s not required to receive your entry: facebook.com/alltheweighblog (two entries)

4) Blog about this giveaway on your blog.  Feel free to keep it short and sweet.  Just don’t forget to link back to this post! (three entries)

I’ll choose a winner Monday, July 18th, 2011 so weigh-in for your chance to win!
